Day Two - Bike Highway One and Hearst Castle
Tour
Come see why the magnificent Pacific Coast Highway is one of the
Meccas of bike touring. Picture yourself on your bike with waves
crashing below the bluffs to your right while the picturesque
coastal range rises on your left. It rarely gets better than
this. We enjoy a scenic drive up to Ragged Point (about a 30 minute
drive) and ride south on Highway One past a colony of decidedly odd
looking elephants seals, as well as the legendary Hearst Castle and
San Simeon Cove. After picnicking on the bluffs overlooking the
beach on Moonstone Beach Drive, we'll shuttle a few miles back to
Hearst Castle and enjoy a guided tour of the opulent former
residence of William Randolph Hearst.

Day Three - Multisport: Morro Bay
Featuring extensive trails and hundreds of species of birds as well as
numerous marine mammals, Morro Bay is a nature lover's paradise. Get
up close and personal with this rich and diverse ecosystem by kayak
and on foot (or bike). In the morning we head onto the bay looking for
sea otters and sea lions while pelicans and cormorants wheel
overhead. After a delicious picnic lunch on a secluded sand spit, we
head back to the mainland for a hike or a ride. The guided hike is
along a relatively easy and little known trail north of Cayucos that
takes in beaches and bluffs. If the wildflowers are in bloom, we may
do a different trail just off the bay that is a little hillier, but
which showcases an extravagant display of native wildflowers and
affords a view of the bay that is hard to beat. If we decide to ride,
we'll do 10 to 15 miles near Morro Bay. After the day's activities,
we'll shuttle into San Luis Obispo where.

The Edna Valley Loop features some of the prettiest riding in the
county, plus several excellent wineries to taste at along the
route. Our ride begins in San Luis Obispo and passes by the historic
mission before venturing out into the vineyards that begin just south
of town. Get your camera ready for stunning views of picturesque hills
rising above rows of grapes. We have opportunities to visit such award
winning wineries as Domaine Alfred, Kynsi and Baileyana, with the
highlight being a gourmet picnic lunch and complimentary tasting at a
winery located in the heart of the valley. Longer options into the
rolling farms and ranchland south of Edna Valley are also
possible. After lunch, the ride yields beautiful views of the Nine
Sisters, a line of craggy volcanic hills stretching from San Luis
Obispo to Morro Bay. After enjoying Edna Valley, we'll shuttle (about
one hour) to the Santa Ynez Valley.

Day Five - Bike Santa Ynez
Valley
Come bicycle tour one of the best areas in California for cycling and
wine tasting - the picturesque Santa Ynez Valley. Nestled in northern
Santa Barbara County, Santa Ynez Valley boasts an extensive secondary
road network perfect for bicycle tours and a myriad of unique and
innovative wineries. Lance Armstrong and his team even train on one of
the mountain roads leading out of the valley (don't worry - you don't
have to ride that one unless you want to!). Our route choice varies
according to the season and weather conditions. In hot weather we
usually head for the coast, stopping at Sanford and LaFond wineries
along the way. We end this route with a stunning descent into Jalama
Beach. If the inland areas are not too hot, we cycle a loop route
taking in the popular Foxen and Ballard Canyon route, where amazing
world class wineries are found, including Firestone/Curtis, Rusack and
Zaca Mesa.
