Itinerary Description

Come with us to explore the amazing diversity of birds on Morro Bay! Numerous habitats in such a small area make for incredible birdwatching and a kayak is the best way to get to all these different areas in Morro Bay. Pelicans, cormorants, egrets, herons, osprey, peregrine falcons and numerous shorebirds can be seen all year round. From mid November to March our winter migrants are here and you can also see ducks, geese, grebes, loons, and an even a greater diversity of shorebirds. Depending on tides and season, we’ll explore mudflats, salt marsh, deeper water and the heron rookery (active from spring through late summer).

We've run the kayak bird watching tour program for the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival for many years as well. If you are an avid birder, we encourage you to check out the festival and sign up for one of the kayak tours that we do with them. You can also check out the bird lists to see what kind of species you might see in and around the bay.
